Lilly Sauen creates sculptural ceramic paintings that evoke geological phenomena, mineral deposits, sedimentary undulations, and traces of extreme pressure. Color serves as a sensorial immersion, oscillating between presence and deep time.
A graduate of Central Saint Martins, she exhibits with Galerie Daguet-Bresson (Paris) and at PAD (London, Paris, Saint-Tropez). A selection of her works is held in the UCLH Collection (across eight campuses).
Her practice, developed over more than a decade, centers on the restorative properties of clay: a process that engages both the movement of the body and the plasticity of matter, akin to a somatic meditation.
These ceramic reliefs, both pictorial and tactile, naturally inhabit tranquil environments: the surface becomes a mineral canvas, where the glaze captures and radiates a sensation of active calm.
