Tamara Van San
Tamara Van San (born in 1982, lives and works in Antwerp) shapes clay as one might trace a dance. Her ceramic sculptures, full of curves and color, radiate a joyful and spontaneous energy.
Trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, she has developed an organic vocabulary, neither abstract nor figurative, composed of ribbons, loops, and twists. Each piece seems to move, breathe, and vibrate with an inner light.
The artist improvises with the material: bending, folding, and coloring it until it finds its balance. Her saturated glazes, with an almost musical intensity, give clay a living accent, suspended between tension and softness.
Exhibited in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and Japan, Tamara Van San belongs to a generation of artists who have rediscovered the pleasure of form and the sensuality of color: a ceramics practice that is free, intuitive, and profoundly human.
