Jin Eui Kim
Lives and works in Cardiff, United Kingdom
Hypnotic and fascinating , the works of Jin Eui Kim captivate with their impeccably drawn circles, where colorful lines in constant motion challenge our perception through subtle chromatic variations. His visual language, deeply rooted in the kinetic movement, makes a powerful statement. But where masters like Yaacov Agam and Victor Vasarely created the illusion of a third dimension on flat surfaces, Jin Eui Kim goes further bringing the illusions to life through the very material and playing with volume and space.
Jin Eui Kim, an internationally acclaimed ceramic artist from South Korea, now calls Cardiff, UK, his home. After earning a degree in Contemporary Arts from the University of Tasmania, he went on to complete both a master’s and a PhD in ceramics at Cardiff School of Art and Design. Renowned for his mesmerizing works that blend optical illusions and striking gradient effects, Jin’s creations have dazzled audiences worldwide. In the UK, they’ve made waves at major events like Ceramic Art London, the London Art Fair, and Collect. Starting in 2024, he embarks on an exciting new collaboration with Florian Daguet-Bresson, who will now partner with him in shaping the future of his art.
