Signée, Céramique émaillée

Born twins on August 7, 1930, in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, Robert and Jean Cloutier formed an inseparable duo in the art of ceramics and sculpture.

Trained at the École de Céramique de Meaux, where they also learned the stucco technique, the brothers went on to apprentice in the studios of renowned Parisian masters, Robert with Georges Jouve and Jean with Michel Rivière, before both joining the workshop of ceramist Pol Chambost. In 1955, they opened their own studio at 53 rue de Reuilly in Paris (12th). Over the years, their path led them to Vinneuf (Yonne) in 1972, and later to Marsillargues (Hérault) in 1978, where they also opened a gallery in Lunel.

Their work is characterized by a wide variety of materials, ceramic, glazed earthenware, porcelain, terracotta, stoneware, and plaster, combining functionality and decorative artistry through the creation of tableware, vases, lamps, and architectural or interior elements (such as screens, glazed tiles, and tables). Their style embodies a playful imagination, blending human forms, animality, and dreamlike hybridization.
