Stephen Creech
Originally from Kentucky, Stephen Creech lives and works in Indianapolis. A ceramic artist, educator, and passionate organizer, he connects the gesture of the potter to a collective vision of creation.
A graduate of Morehead State University, he began his career in Lexington before exhibiting throughout the United States and internationally. His work, at the crossroads of gestural abstraction and organic form, seeks to reveal the hidden energy within matter.
Deeply committed to the promotion of contemporary ceramics, he co-founded Clay Week, a collaborative network linking artists, students, and enthusiasts, and serves as Director of Marketing and Development at AMACO Brent, a global leader in ceramic materials.
Stephen Creech’s work captivates through its lightness and sense of wonder. Evoking both the volcanic world through pumice stone and a childlike imagination through references to marshmallows and cotton candy, his art feels airy, organic, and playful. He belongs to a generation of artists who explore material through texture, pushing the boundaries of ceramics and offering it a fresh, vibrant aesthetic.
