Simon Manoha
Lives and works in Ardèche, France
Born in 1987
From philosophy to ceramics, passing through improvised music and photography: the journey of a self-taught individual in love with nature !
Making the earth speak, celebrating roots—this is Simon Manoha's ambition. His love for exploration, along with a deep sensitivity to the wild world and the environment, were among the many reasons this native of Ardèche chose to establish his workshop in a small village in his homeland. In the heart of spectacular nature, where clays, minerals, and other natural riches abound, he now creates works of great poetic strength. Fired in an "Anagama," a wood-fired kiln he built himself, his works are an ode to nature as well as a poetic evocation of the weight of time. Raw and captivating, sometimes anthropomorphic, they appear petrified or as if they have reemerged from primitive ages.
